EU Bans Bisphenol-A in Food Contact Materials
BPA was previously used mainly in polycarbonate (PC) and epoxy resins. It is considered an endocrine disruptor and can affect development, fertility and the risk of certain diseases. PC can be used in consumer goods, for example in reusable drink bottles, household appliances or kitchen utensils. The BPA ban now means that PC can generally no longer be used as a raw material for food contact applications. Our services: Alternative Masterbatch Development If your product is affected by this ban and you are developing alternative applications, we are happy to assist you in finding a new suitable masterbatch. Granula Polymer: Albis sells "GranaClean" cleaning granulates
From January 2024, the patented cleaning granules of the "GranaClean" brand from Granula Polymer GmbH will be available from Albis, a global distributor of thermoplastics. Granula Polymer GmbH, based in Groß-Umstadt, has been producing cleaning granules since 2005 and is constantly developing them further. The ready-to-use granules "GranaClean" are suitable for cleaning injection moulding machines and extruders. "The partnership with Albis is an important milestone for us," says Dr Eva Langhammer from Granula Polymer. "With the distributor's highly professional sales structure and excellent customer service, we can offer even more compounders and injection moulding processors real added value." "We are very much looking forward to working together and being able to offer our customers these high-quality cleaning granulates," says Susann Schrader, Vice President Business Unit Standard Polymers & Sustainable Solutions at Albis. "With the fully biodegradable 'Grana Clean Bio' products, we are adding cleaning granules to our sustainable portfolio so that we can also meet the growing demand for resource-saving solutions in this area." In addition to the universally applicable cleaning granulate "GranaClean Uni" with a wide application range from 160°C to 320°C for standard and technical thermoplastics, the cleaners "GranaClean Clear" for machines that process transparent and crystal-clear thermoplastics, "GranaClean TPE/TPU" for thermoplastic elastomers and "GranaClean Bio" made from 100 per cent biodegradable ingredients as well as customised cleaners are also available.

Granula Polymer: Industrial cleaning with a CO2-negative footprint
Granula Polymer GmbH is presenting its "GranaClean" product line for industrial cleaning at Kuteno 2025. The company is particularly highlighting "GranaClean Uni Green," an innovative cleaning granulate designed to set new standards in sustainability, user-friendliness, and performance. The family-run company from Groß-Umstadt has specialized in the development and production of technical cleaning granulates for decades. With the launch of the "GranaClean" brand, a comprehensive portfolio of cleaning granulates has been created that is specifically tailored to the needs of the plastics processing industry. "CO2-negative" as an industry first What "GranaClean Uni Green" is particularly distinguished by is its demonstrably CO2-negative footprint – a unique selling point in the world of industrial cleaning agents. Thanks to an intelligent material composition and a sustainable manufacturing process, "GranaClean Uni Green" is designed to bind more carbon dioxide than is emitted during its entire life cycle. This groundbreaking environmental benefit has been confirmed by external testing bodies. Ready-to-use and efficient In addition to its ecological pioneering role, "GranaClean Uni Green" is said to impress with its practical handling and high cleaning efficiency. The product is delivered ready-to-use, enabling simple, safe, and time-saving application in production. The cleaner can be integrated directly into the machine process without additional mixing or preparation. "GranaClean Uni Green" is designed for a temperature range of 160°C to 320°C, thus covering the typical process windows of thermoplastics processing.

Granula Polymer: Neue Reinigungsgranulate aus biologisch abbaubaren bzw. biobasierten Inhaltsstoffen
Granula Polymer GmbH, based in Groß-Umstadt near Frankfurt am Main, offers patented cleaning granules for cleaning plastics processing machines that "have a screw that turns". The universal and ready-mixed cleaner "GranaClean Uni" is used for most applications. The portfolio has now been expanded to include "GranaClean Bio": a cleaner that is based 100 per cent on biodegradable ingredients and was developed specifically for plastics processors who process biodegradable plastics. According to Dr Eva-Maria Langhammer, Managing Director of Granula Polymer GmbH, it hardly makes sense for this customer base to use non-biodegradable materials on the machine for cleaning. Unfortunately, this has been the case to date, as the development of "GranaClean Bio" is a world first and analogue products are hardly available elsewhere. The new development does not compromise on quality: as with "GranaClean Uni", meticulous care has been taken to ensure that all ingredients are food-safe in accordance with EU Directive (EU) No. 10/2011, do not have an abrasive effect on the machine surface and do not contain any hazardous substances for people or the environment. The cleaners have a chemical and mechanical effect and expand during cleaning, so that even hard-to-reach areas in the machine can be reached and soiling can be removed. Users who do not process biodegradable plastics could also benefit from a new product: "GranaClean Uni Green" is in no way inferior to the original "GranaClean Uni", but consists of 60 per cent bio-based ingredients, according to the final information.
