    4. Characterization of Flow Instabilities to avoid surface defects during extrusion of polymers

Characterization of Flow Instabilities to avoid surface defects during extrusion of polymers

Surface defects during polymer extrusion? The problem often starts earlier than you might think. The so-called Shark Skin effect occurs when flow instabilities arise at higher shear rates. The surface becomes rough, the process unstable and throughput is limited. The challenge is that by the time the defect becomes visible, the instability is already fully developed. With our Shark Skin Add-on, these instabilities become measurable before they appear on the surface. High-frequency pressure measurement enables you to identify early when the stable operating window is reaching its limit. What does this mean for you in practice? • Define the maximum stable process window • Safely explore higher throughput • Compare materials in a targeted way • Evaluate the impact of additives • Avoid costly production trials

Cleaning granules made from 100% biodegradable ingredients

The 28-year-old family business Granula Polymer GmbH, based in Groß-Umstadt (near Frankfurt am Main), is known for its patented, effective cleaning granulate GranaClean® for cleaning all machines in the plastics processing industry "that have a screw that rotates". The main areas of application are extrusion (blown film, casting and filament, compounding and masterbatch production) and injection molding, including hot runners. GranaClean is used primarily in the following cases: Maintenance and regular care, color and material changes or when contamination occurs in the product, such as black spots, streaks or agglomerates of raw materials and fillers. Cleaning granules made from 100% biodegradable ingredients

The 27-year-old family business Granula Polymer GmbH, based in Groß-Umstadt (near Frankfurt am Main), is known for its patented, effective cleaning granules for cleaning all machines in the plastics processing industry that "have a screw that rotates." Granula Polymer GmbH invests In 2024, the company invested further in the machinery for the production of cleaning granules so that 500 kg of customer-specific and standard cleaning granules can be produced per hour. Increased customer sustainability Sustainability was always a priority when developing the cleaning granules. CO2 can be successfully saved over the entire life cycle of GranaClean® and this benefits the customer by reducing their footprint: - The energy balance in production is low. - Production takes place in accordance with certified environmental management. - Electricity for production comes from renewable energies. - Samples and small quantities are shipped in a climate-neutral manner. - Made in Germany --> short transport routes protect the environment. - GranaClean® is efficient: Using 1 kg of GranaClean® replaces an average of 7 kg of polypropylene -> saving raw materials. - No exposure time required during cleaning --> saving energy. - Recyclable waste - (depending on the degree of contamination). - Packed in recyclable mono-PE bags. - Not abrasive to part surfaces - --> Prevents wear.

    7. Close by. Well positioned. Strong together.

Anyone familiar with LEHVOSS knows: The Hamburg-based company has a global presence—yet remains close to its customers. Close to its customers, close to their needs. Because valuable connections are forged through direct dialogue. That's why LEHVOSS is exhibiting at Kuteno. LEHVOSS Compounds will present its expanded compound portfolio under the overarching theme of Smart Resourcing—and invites customers, processors, and regional partners to do exactly what has always worked at Kuteno: Talk. Listen. Think together. Smart Resourcing: Not a buzzword, but a mindset The pressure on plastics processing has only intensified in recent years. Cost pressures, supply chain uncertainties, sustainability requirements—and the desire to remain competitive nonetheless. LEHVOSS calls its answer Smart Resourcing: the consistent interplay of performance, efficiency, and sustainability. Not as a compromise—but as a system solution tailored to the customer's actual requirements. The LEHVOSS Compound Portfolio: LUVOCOM—Compounds for the highest demands, custom-tailored to the customer's specifications. High-strength, tribologically optimized, thermally stable, conductive. LUVOTECH — Proven standard compounds (PA66, PPA, CF, LCP) for applications where quality, reliability, and attractive prices are equally important. LUVOTECH eco — From high-performance compounds based on recycled materials for metal replacement to PA6, PA66, PBT, PPS, LCP, and PEEK alternatives with varying recycled content — consistent properties, attractive prices, and sustainability. LEHVOSS is deliberately using this approach: Experts are available at the booth who don't present, but listen — and then work together with the customer. Anyone with specific material questions, looking for alternatives to existing solutions, or simply wanting to know what smart resourcing can mean for their company — will find themselves at the right booth.

    8. Collaboration on material change reduces CO2 footprint

Collaboration on material change reduces CO2 footprint

For nearly 20 years, Polykemi ApS in Denmark has worked closely with Borring Plast A/S, a Danish company that has been a pioneer in injection moulding of plastic components for the industry since established in 1964. Their end customer EVBiler ApS manufactures, among other things, charging cable holders for electric and hybrid cars. They wanted to change the material in these to a material with a lower environmental impact. “When EVBiler ApS contacted us with their request, I immediately turned to Polykemi. They have the knowledge on how to change the material to a more environmentally friendly alternative, while maintaining function, quality and color,” says Martin Lindegaard Pedersen, Project Manager at Borring Plast A/S. The component was originally made in ABS and after listening carefully to the customer’s demand profile, the experts at Polykemi and Rondo Plast suggested a recycled PP with 20% glass fibre – a REPRO PP RG124. The material change meant a saving of 4.25 kg of CO2 per kilo of material, which means a CO2 saving of more than 80%. “Historically, many customers focused primarily on having a low material cost, but today there is more interest in developing sustainable products that reduce the carbon footprint,” says Ole Tietze, sales and technical support for Polykemi in Denmark and Benelux. “This project is really about cooperation and being material-smart,” Tietze concludes. 9. Contract compounding - Our contribution to a sustainable circular economy

Contract compounding - Our contribution to a sustainable circular economy

Your production scrap is a valuable raw material! We use our modern cutting mills to shred your sprues and reject parts. We then produce high-quality regranulates from your production scraps on our extrusion systems. Of course, these can also be recolored according to your specifications or further refined with additional additives. An important contribution from us to the sustainable, resource-saving use of raw materials - and all based on our many years of experience in the processing of high-quality plastics. In the segment of unreinforced thermoplastic elastomers, we are happy to accept regrind, special items and NT goods, which we process mechanically and adjust the quality to your requirements using additives. Through this process we receive a high-quality raw material, which we can make available to your company again as part of the recycling cycle.

    10. Contract grinding

      Contract grinding

Production rejects are definitely not waste. High-quality material often arises during ongoing production that cannot be directly returned to your production process. We use our cutting systems to reduce this material to a minimum size so that it can be reused. Today, we grind almost all common plastics in the thermoplastic elastomer (TPU/TPS/TPC/TPV) sector, as well as standard plastics (EVA, PS, PA, etc.). The material is ground to a grain size of approximately 6–8 mm. We ensure the highest level of cleanliness and purity of the ground material. The ground material is packaged in octabins or big bags. The recycling cycle is closed when the ground material is used in your production.
