From the Yellow Bag to the Vehicle Interior

Plastic recyclates have been used in cars for a long time. Until now, however, this has rarely been the case in vehicle interiors. TechnoCompound has succeeded in realising PCR proportions of over 20 percent in interior components, provided that the compound used is suitable for this.
In June 2024, an instrument panel carrier made of long-fibre-reinforced polypropylene (PP) with a significant proportion of PCR was produced for the first time. The material used had to fulfil both the required physical properties and strict quality standards in order to be approved for series production. The approved material, TechnoGreen PP LGF 20-10-04 L E, has a PCR content of 21% and thus enables a CO2 reduction of 15% compared to a compound made from virgin material. This innovative material opens up the possibility for car manufacturers and their system suppliers to significantly expand the use of PCR in vehicle interiors.
