UHMW-PE Granulate [By Mitsui Chemicals Inc.] Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene is known for its excellent sliding properties, abrasion resistance, and high strength, and is classified as an engineering plastic. Only very few manufacturers are worldwide in the position to supply injection & extrusion moldable UHMW-PE. UHMW-PE is available as granulate (LUBMER ™) for injection and extrusion molding. Powders (MIPELON™) and granulates are also used in blending with other polymers, i.e. to improve the tribological properties. UHMWPE
Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene UHMW-PE are PE types with molecular weights from 1 million g/mol up to 10 million g/mol. Standard types are used in the range of 3–5 million g/mol. With increasing molecular weight, wear resistance and impact strength, in particular, improve. UHMW-PE exhibits the most balanced property profile of all polyethylenes and offers very good impact strength even at temperatures down to minus 200°C. Characteristic properties: Best wear resistance of all engineering plastics at room temperature, very low coefficients of sliding friction, excellent sliding properties, very good stress crack resistance, noise reduction, UV resistance. Areas of application: Protective devices, lining technology, general mechanical engineering, conveyor technology, medical technology, protective clothing, sports & leisure equipment. Processing: Due to the high molecular weight, the material viscosity also increases, so UHMWPE can generally only be processed using RAM extrusion and press-sintering processes. Semi-finished products for further machining can thus be produced with very low stresses. With our partner IRPC, we are currently developing a UHMWPE granulate grade suitable for injection molding.

Ultra SideGate
Ultra SideGate™ provides easy integration, operation and maintenance and is ideal for deep draw parts such as pipettes, syringe barrels, and hinged closures or smaller parts where only side-gating is possible and gate quality is critical. Ultra SideGate™ nozzles offer molders the opportunity to horizontally direct-gate parts that cannot be effectively gated with a standard nozzle. This direct sidegating method allows for high productivity without sacrificing gate quality, while eliminating the need for cold runners.

Ultramid Expand
Ultramid® Expand Ultramid Expand® is a particle foam by BASF that is based on a combination of several polyamide 6 grades. The particle foam consists of pre-foamed particles with a defined particle size and density, which can be welded into a 3D component without generating foam waste in a molding machine. The component has isotropic foam properties, i.e. the same mechanical properties in all directions. A chemical reaction does not take place in the foam. The particle foam excels with a wide range of unique characteristics: high temperature-resistance, outstanding stiffness and strength as well as an excellent chemical resistance, e.g. in contact with fuels, oils and lubricants. Additionally, the closed cell foam structure offers an exceptional compressive strength, a requirement for the use in crash relevant components that are exposed to high mechanical demands. Because of this versatility, lightweight applications are possible as well.

The newest family of Husky hot runners—UltraShot™—offers dramatic advances over traditional injection technology. The UltraShot™ hot runner injection molding system features a servo-controlled injection system that permits more precise melt control than ever—right in the gate. How? By positioning the shooting pots in closer proximity to the gates and pressurizing the resin near the cavities, which reduces shear and thermal variations in part quality and performance. This enables part designers ultimate part freedom, removing design barriers caused by injection molding process constraints.
