Recyclates and recyclate compounds from post-consumer and pre-consumer sources

Our recyclate portfolio includes high-quality recycled PP and PE, PP compounds, as well as LDPE recyclates derived from beverage cartons containing aluminum flakes. RECYCLATES The PE and PP recyclates are RecyClass certified and can be processed via injection molding, blow molding, and extrusion. These recyclable drop-ins are suitable for the following non-food applications: ◦ Bottles ◦ Jars and pots ◦ Canisters ◦ Caps and closures ◦ Buckets ◦ Films MACOLEN® The RecyClass certified Macolen® PP recyclate compounds are suitable for injection molding and profile extrusion. Talc-filled compounds with 20 or 40 wt.-% are also available. These modified recyclates are drop-in plastics and can be used in the following non-food applications: ◦ Packaging and containers for decorative cosmetics and accessories ◦ Jars and pots as well as corresponding screw caps ◦ Technical parts ◦ Buckets ◦ Plant pots PALUREN The LDPE obtained from used beverage cartons contains around 4% aluminum flakes, giving it a unique visual appearance. Paluren is RecyClass certified and can be processed via extrusion and injection molding. It is suitable for the following applications: ◦ Technical parts ◦ Buckets ◦ Plant pots ◦ Hair accessories and fashion accessories TERRALENE® rPP This PP compound is partially bio-based and contains a recyclate content of up to 60%. As a drop-in material, it can be processed via injection molding and extrusion. Terralene® rPP is highly recyclable and suitable for the following non-food applications: ◦ Jars and pots ◦ Plant pots ◦ Bottles and canisters ◦ Plastic housings

    2. RECYCLING CONTENT TPE

      RECYCLING CONTENT TPE

TPEs with Recycling Content are the response to the increasing market demand for more environmentally friendly materials with a proportion of postindustrial and/or post-consumer recycled materials (PIR, PCR). They have been developed to support customers in achieving their own sustainability targets. ::: Recycling Content TPE with Adhesion to PA ::: • Recycling contents up to 60% based on a combination of PIR and PCR materials • Hardness range from 40–80 ShA • Wide range of coloring possiblities • Adhesion to Polyamides like PA6, PA 6.6 • Very good flowability • US FDA CFR 21 (raw material conformity) • REACH, RoHS conformity • PAH-free • Reliable quality and availability ::: Recycling Content TPE with adhesion to ABS/PC ::: • Recycling contents up to 54% based on a combination of PIR and PCR materials • Hardness range from 40–70 ShA • Wide range of coloring possiblities • Adhesion to polar Thermoplastics e.g. ABS, PC, PC/ABS • Very good flowability • REACH, RoHS conformity • Meets requirements of EN71-3 • PAH-free • Reliable quality and availability ::: Universal PCR TPE 2nd Generation ::: • Recycling content up to 79% based on PCR raw materials • Hardness range from 30-90 ShA • Wide range of coloring possiblities • Adhesion to unpolar Thermoplastics e.g. PP • Very good flowability • REACH, RoHS conformity • Meets requierement of EN71-3 • PAH-free • Reliable quality and availability ::: TPE WITH RECYCLING CONTENT >70% FOR TECHNICAL APPLICATIONS ::: • Recycled raw materials content > 70% • Reduced PCF compared to virgin compound • Hardness range from 25 to 95 ShA • Adhesion to PP • Soft touch surface • Controlled level of emission and odor, suitable for automotive interior • Dry haptics • In-process recycling possible • Recycling-specific raw material influences are possible

    6. Research for Practical Use

      Research for Practical Use

The research and development of new technologies for processing innovative materials forms the basis for the technological developments of tomorrow. In Germany, the state of North Rhine-Westphalia holds the number one position in materials research, with Aachen as the most important research location. Embedded in the research landscape of RWTH Aachen University, IKV has, for more than six decades, formed the bridgehead between basic university research and industrial application. The linking-up of science and industry is at the heart of IKV research. IKV is divided into six departments, with more than 80 scientists working continuously on various application-related, technological and material science projects in the field of plastics.
