With the new Eco-Consulting approach (Eco: ecology and economy), BARLOG Plastics supports its customers in developing more sustainable processes and successfully implementing them in the production of plastic components. Sustainability from the idea to series production BARLOG Plastics is actively committed to reducing the CO₂ footprint - both in its own company and at its customers. In doing so, the company strives for improved sustainability along the entire supply chain. The focus is on a holistic approach that includes both suppliers ('upstream') and customers and their products ('downstream'). The 4 building blocks of ECO-Consulting With the ECO-Selection service, materials for plastic components are not only selected according to technical and economic criteria, but also taking into account sustainability and the resources of our planet. With the ECO-Design-Service BARLOG works closely with the customer to develop the best possible component design. In this process the principles of Design-for-Repair and Design-for-Recycling are incorporated into the design. ECO-Simulation is used to simulate production cycles in order to develop better temperature control layouts and to identify potentials for cycle reductions. The ECO-Calculator, an online tool for calculating the product carbon footprint of various design variants, makes it possible to evaluate the impact of these measures on the carbon footprint of plastic parts.

      Ecocell®

      Our masterbatches are designed to optimize the properties of end products for specific applications. With Ecocell® we have a patented, endothermic chemical foaming agent (CFA) masterbatch in our product portfolio that helps to improve several requirements for plastics at the same time. The use of Ecocell® significantly reduces material consumption, and in addition, mechanical properties of the products can be optimized. Furthermore, cooling times are shortened, performance is increased and energy costs are reduced.

      ECOGEHR® - Semi-finished products based on renewable resources

      ECO-GEHR® plastics stand for semi-finished products based on renewable resources. These sustainable materials possess regenerative raw material contents between 60 % to 100 % and hence a positive CO2 balance. In addition to that ECO-GEHR® offers an alternative to the non-renewable resource crude oil. As a basis we use all sorts of organic materials such as sugar/starch, lignin, cellulose, castor, oil wood fibres. After polymerization these raw materials are adjusted by compounding so that they are suitable for the extrusion process on the existing machines.
