Injection molded plastic parts can be made lightweight in a number of ways. A new strategie for reducing the weight of injection molded parts is shown by our sample case study: With a special process, patented by acad, injection molded parts can be strengthened locally in an effective and sustainably simple way. By combining LFT (Long Fiber Thermoplastic) and additively manufactured continuous fiber inserts, it is possible to produce high-strength and considerably lighter structural components by serial injection molding. PBT
LUPOX is a high-functional engineering plastic based on PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) with the physical properties enhanced with glass fibers, inorganic fillers and various other additives. It has properties such as fast crystallization, excellent formability and great liquidity. .

Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) is a semi-crystalline, thermoplastic, saturated polyester used as a material for highly stressed technical parts in many industrial sectors. In addition to injection molding and extrusion variants, there are unreinforced, glass fiber-reinforced, glass bead- and mineral-filled, flame-retardant, elastomer-modified, and food-contact-approved product types. Our product range also includes various blends: PBT/ABS; PBT/ASA; PBT/PC; PBT/PET; PBT/SAN; PBT/TPEE. Polycarbonate, known as a material used in bulletproof glass, is transparent and resistant to impact and heat, making it the most sought-after material in various industrial fields such as electronics, automobiles and mechanical components. PC
Polycarbonate is characterized by high heat resistance, strength, and hardness, as well as excellent sliding properties, high abrasion resistance, good chemical resistance, low susceptibility to stress cracking, and low moisture absorption. In addition to injection molding variants, there are grades for the extrusion of semi-finished products, films, and cable sheathing, as well as unreinforced, glass fiber-reinforced, glass bead, and mineral-filled versions. There are also flame-retardant, elastomer-modified, and food-contact-approved product grades, as well as blends with acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate copolymer (ASA). Areas of application: Polycarbonate is used for optical parts (lenses and ophthalmic lenses) as well as for sports goggles and visors. Impact resistance is a key consideration, as is weight savings compared to traditionally used glass. PC is also used in the automotive, leisure, household, and electronics industries.
