About us
BARLOG Plastics GmbH is a full-service provider for the production and distribution of plastic compounds, the development of plastic components, as well as prototype and small series production.
The owner-managed family business was founded in 1996 as a distributor of technical plastics and has evolved over the years from a trading company to a technology and development partner. The company has been based in Overath, North Rhine-Westphalia, since 2011.
The company's focus is on customer-orientated interaction between the divisions - from the initial concept to material, design, prototypes, pre-series and small series through to supplying the series with high performance polymers. All of the company's services are available both individually and as a complete package.

Innovative tool for early assessment of the product carbon footprint in the product development of plastic components
Calculating the carbon footprint of injection moulded parts is an important basis for improving sustainability. Until now, determining the product carbon footprint (PCF) has often involved a great deal of effort and high costs. BARLOG Plastics has therefore developed a new calculation tool that makes it possible to estimate and optimise the PCF of plastic components at an early stage of development. Development engineers and sustainability officers can thus be supported both in product development and in rethinking existing plastic articles in terms of sustainability. The new PCF calculation tool is part of our existing "ECO-Consulting" service and offers a new resource for assessing and minimising thecarbon footprint of plastic products. By estimating the carbon footprint at an early stage with regard to material, production process (focus on plastic injection moulding) through to the transport of the product, this tool makes it possible to analyse and compare data bases for different product variants. With our new PCF tool, we are setting an important milestone in the direction of sustainable product development and offering our customers a data-based foundation for making their products more environmentally friendly. We are convinced that this tool will not only open the eyes of our customers to sustainable material alternatives, but will also accelerate the development process from the idea to the series production of individual components in the direction of more efficient and sustainable plastic products.

ECO-Consulting - We bring sustainability to your product development
Sustainability is no longer just a “nice to have”, but a decisive success factor for companies. But what does this mean in concrete terms for companies, and what measures are necessary to ensure sustainable business in the long term? With the new Eco-Consulting approach (Eco: ecology and economy), BARLOG Plastics supports its customers in developing more sustainable processes and successfully implementing them in the production of plastic components. Sustainability from the idea to series production BARLOG Plastics is actively committed to reducing the CO₂ footprint - both in its own company and at its customers. In doing so, the company strives for improved sustainability along the entire supply chain. The focus is on a holistic approach that includes both suppliers ('upstream') and customers and their products ('downstream'). The 4 building blocks of ECO-Consulting With the ECO-Selection service, materials for plastic components are not only selected according to technical and economic criteria, but also taking into account sustainability and the resources of our planet. With the ECO-Design-Service BARLOG works closely with the customer to develop the best possible component design. In this process the principles of Design-for-Repair and Design-for-Recycling are incorporated into the design. ECO-Simulation is used to simulate production cycles in order to develop better temperature control layouts and to identify potentials for cycle reductions. The ECO-Calculator, an online tool for calculating the product carbon footprint of various design variants, makes it possible to evaluate the impact of these measures on the carbon footprint of plastic parts.
