Minimised cycle time: MeKuMed research project - injection mould with handling
Turning five into three: Until now, there used to be five different individual manufacturing steps necessary for the production of medical crimp claps. As part of the state-funded “MeKuMed” research project, Hofmann has worked with project partners to develop a more efficient production in three steps only. Decisive for this: The mould developed by Hofmann, including a handling system for time-saving and automated production. From pilot mould to automated series mould - In the first stage of tool development, Hofmann created a new forming punch with different polishes and coatings for an existing test injection mould of the Institute for Plastics Development. - Following, a pilot tool with a single mould cavity was then designed, manufactured and further optimized to develop the combined process. - Using the resulting findings on the process and mould design, we then constructed and manufactured the final 4-cavity mould. New production chain With the new production chain, the time and equipment requirements can be significantly reduced thanks to our injection moulding tool. This results in a more efficient production with higher quality and which is less prone to errors. New manufacturing process 1. Microstructuring, pre-damaging and cutting out the blanks using a laser by project partner Fraunhofer ILT: circular pre-damaging allows the aluminium to be precisely removed. The rubber stopper can then be pierced with a needle. 2. Forming the metal blank into a crimped cap, followed by injection moulding the plastic component within the combined mould from Hofmann. Mixing container 300 l / 500 l
The CR.MIX mixing container is the ideal solution for fast and efficient mixing of non-abrasive, free-flowing plastic granules or regrind. Up to two suction pipes (Ø 40, Ø 50, Ø 60.3) allow easy material removal. The transparent cover provides a clear view of the mixing process. The special geometry of the mixing screw ensures the best mixing results in the shortest possible time. Mixing silos
Homogeneous. Precise. Process-reliable. Mixing silos combine storage and homogenisation in a single system. They ensure that bulk materials are always mixed homogeneously, free-flowing and ready for processing. Variant 1: Mechanical mixing screw The vertically installed mixing screw ensures maximum mixing accuracy with particularly gentle product handling. • Open or closed design • Suitable for sensitive, fine-grained or homogeneous mixing tasks • Available as an internal or external silo • Volume range: 5 m³ – 120 m³ This variant offers controlled, intensive mixing – ideal when optimum homogeneity with short mixing times is crucial. Variant 2: Static mixing tube In mixing silos with a central mixing tube, homogenisation is achieved through intelligent stratification and extraction: • Different batches that are filled in succession are discharged again in mixed order via openings in the mixing tube • Particularly suitable for continuous processes and frequently changing batches • Very low maintenance, as there are no moving mixing elements (static mixer) This technology ensures reliable mixing solely through material flow and gravity – ideal for robust, low-maintenance processes. Modification + repair
To minimize your downtime, the associated loss of capacity and follow-up costs, we are at your side with full commitment to get your injection moulding tool back into working order as quickly as possible. Changes to injection molds require a high level of expertise and flexibility. We measure and digitize the tool or component using 3D coordinate measuring machines and laser scanners. We use Cadmould to carry out precise injection molding simulations in order to make optimal decisions for your tool.

Modula Food Pack

Modular manual multi-couplings plate RMI for temperature control
Bringing an added measure of efficiency to temperature control applications, RMI plates make it possible to connect all mold temperature control circuits at once in complete safety. They are also designed to prevent circuit connection errors and remove all risk of misconnection between similar plates. In order to adapt the solution to each application, there are many possible configurations, including the number of couplings fitted onto the plate with different choices of diameters.
