Colour expertise for sustainable, bio-based reusable trays
Reusable, bio-based, and thus environmentally friendly: together, the masterbatch specialist GRAFE from Blankenhain, the biotechnology company TECNARO from Ilsfeld, and the tableware manufacturer ORNAMIN from Minden have developed a sustainable product solution made of plastic. The 2Go tableware from ORNAMIN is made of the raw material Arboblend, a bio-material from TECNARO that has been awarded the Green Brand Germany seal several times. It consists of 94 percent plant-based renewable raw materials and natural waxes, minerals, and fibres. GRAFE’s masterbatch carrier material is also based on this. “Just like the plastics used by the customer, suitable Arboblend carrier materials are used for our masterbatches. Compared to conventional carriers, we thus ensure excellent compatibility and homogeneous colouring throughout. Moreover, these are also bio-based and thus environmentally friendly,” says Steffen Schubert, Head of Sales D-A-CH. The Thuringian masterbatch specialist colours the bio-polymer for the reusable trays with a total of six muted shades currently in series production – from blackberry to petrol and linen to sage – as well as black and white (olive green and fresh ivy green are also in development). “We are currently converting our 2GO range to the bio-based plastic; soon more than 15 products will be available in six different colours each,” reports Milena von der Emde, shareholder of ORNAMIN and responsible for product management. “The new organic line from ORNAMIN convinces with excellent quality and sustainability. We are pleased about the good cooperation in the project with Tecnaro and Grafe.” “We have already been working with TECNARO for many years and jointly develop environmentally friendly plastic solutions based on Arboblend,” Schubert explains. By working together on this project, all three companies are underlining their commitment to sustainable resource management and against the waste caused by disposable products.

CRE.ACTIVE DESIGN by ROMIRA - made to order, bespoke, mold in color compounds with special effect, finish or functionality.
The combination of color expertise from the CCC (Color Competence Center) and expertise in the formulation of plastics have resulted in the ability to continually achieve further developments in the possibilities of aesthetic surfaces in comparison to what currently exists. The CRE.ACTIVE Design approach makes it possible to achieve compatibility between the following elements: · INNOVATIVE DESIGN · REDUCTION OF THE CO2 FOOTPRINT · COST REDUCTION · RECYCLABILITY CRE.ACTIVE Design - MOLD IN COLOR solutions facilitate countless and innovative design possibilities: The CRE.ACTIVE Design portfolio includes technical plastics in colors with profound impact, with high-gloss finishes and/or matt effect on smooth or textured surfaces and also with the possibilities of a metallic effect, soft touch or ceramic feel. A combination of surfaces with high-gloss, grained and laser-textured areas can be created on the same part with the use of just one tool. CRE.ACTIVE Design provides a multitude of design options while at the same time offering significant energy and cost savings in comparison with the use of multiple tools and subsequent surface treatments such as lacquering. Reduction of the CO2 footprint is a current and shared challenge for all sectors. There are various possible paths to achieving this goal – the CRE.ACTIVE Design MOLD IN COLOR solutions immediately offer multiple benefits because they optimize the entire process: No additional processes are required for part decoration after injection molding, for example, the transport and energy costs are lower and fewer raw materials are used – meaning that the finished product has a significantly lower CO2 footprint than a product produced using conventional methods. The recyclability of the MOLD IN COLOR solutions provides additional benefits as a valuable resource for a closed loop materials cycle because no additional color lacquer is used.

Crimping Machine PlugLine 345-3 EXTENDED
The high-performance crimping machine is designed for the economical production of high quality power cables. Crimp connections are made between two- or three-core sheathed cables and power plugs. The closed insertion mask and colour detection supports the correct feeding of the cables by the machine operator. The cables are fed manually, cut to a reference length and stripped. A vacuum system removes insulation and wire residues from the process area. In the cable processing machine, the loose power plugs are positioned with a spiral conveyor. The components to be connected are automatically fed to the crimping process via a conveyor rail. The safety of the operator during processing is ensured by closed protective covers. A column guided crimping applicator connects the sheathed cables with the power plugs. The optional crimp force monitoring system with bad part cutter prevents the use of cables with incorrect crimps in the further process and provides the quality assurance. With a production rate of up to 1450 pieces per hour the crimping machine is ideal for series production. The high grade components, the robust machine design and the modular structure stand for highest product quality, short set-up times and durability.

Crimping Machine ProLine 240 EXTENDED
The machine has been designed for stripping and crimping multi-core wires, with advanced quality assurance functions. This was based on a wide variety of products for cable assembly, optimization of retooling work and compliance with high quality standards. The modular components of the innovative machine concept reduce set-up times and increase flexibility for processing a wide range of products. The framework and functional design provide the prerequisite for immediate conversions and extensions. The newly developed machine housing provides installation space for additional control technology and other automation components, for example for automatic feeding and positioning of seals or ferrite cores. The standard integrated LED lighting ensures a good view in the working area. When monitoring the cutting depth, strand contact on the stripping blade is detected as a fault during the stripping process. This function is an optional supplement to crimp force monitoring and prevents the use of damaged cables in further processing. In summary, the crimping machine with cutting and crimp force monitoring provides you with the following advantages: - Flexible workspace for versatile application - Modular design for extensions and automation - High product quality through monitoring devices - Intuitive operation with touch screen control - High degree of safety for operators

Custom parts
We produce special compounds based on mostly engineering and high performance polymers following your formulation or the material’s characteristics desired. When the material’s properties are not known, we analyse the service conditions of your components and we develop the suitable formulation. If the optimal material for a specific application is not present in the product range, we can either modify an existing material, making it suitable or even develop one specifically based on another polymer such as PAI, PEEK, PEI, PESU, PET, PK, POM, PVDF, PPS, PU, TPI, PPSU, LCP, ETFE etc. Eventually we can provide the product in form of plastic granules, semi-finished products or final parts. Often, large quantities or long development times are not required.
