Wet Shredding Mills – Shear-Cut Principle for Perfect Flakes

Films made of PET, PE, PP, PS, PVC, PC, PLA, HDPE, or LDPE are fed into the shredding mills via screw conveyors, ensuring reliable operation even with impurities in the input material. Depending on the model, the mills are equipped with five or seven rotor knives and two or three stator knives. Due to their very low wear, these knives result in significant additional cost savings.

They operate according to Hellweg's signature double shear-cut principle. This technology, which sets a benchmark for cutting quality and dust-free operation, ensures a constant cutting gap and requires no adjustment of the rotor knives.

The shredding process thus produces flakes with consistently optimal quality, perfect particle size distribution, and excellent geometry. Their sharp-edged and, above all, flat shape, free from torsion or folding, is ideally suited for further processing, including transport, washing, and, if necessary, delamination. Furthermore, this advantageous principle also minimizes the amount of dust (fines) produced, which usually cannot be used as a new, valuable raw material.
